Gardening Safety Tips!
Summertime is here! It’s been a harsh, cold winter and the longer, warmer days bring a sense of being happy and carefree! There are more opportunities to be outside with your beloved furry friends and while you’re taking advantage of longer, more enjoyable walks, they are taking advantage of so many new smells. It’s also a time when many of us get involved with gardening and lawn maintenance. There are some important things to keep in mind regarding springtime, gardening and our four-legged friends.
Shelter Update regarding COVID-19
While we continue to work under the guidance and protocols established by state and local health authorities, we are gradually welcoming some of our volunteers back to the shelter to assist with the daily care and socialization of our animals. At this time, the shelter remains closed to the public. Of course, we still welcome any interests in adoptions, and anyone interested in adopting is strongly encouraged to fill out an application and send it by mail to the shelter at 4473 Barton Orleans Road, Orleans, VT 05860. (Online applications are not currently available.) Please call for an appointment to discuss adoptions and meet your potential new family member – 802-754-2228. If we are busy taking care of our animals and do not answer the phone right away, please leave a detailed message and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
Currently, surrenders are also by appointment only. The health and safety of our staff and volunteers, together with the care of our animals, continue to be our primary responsibilities. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all strive to successfully get through these challenges.
